Healing Forward: Finding Strength After Cancer Treatment

By Dr. Kavita Menon6 min read

After chemotherapy and targeted therapy, Priya rebuilt her body and mindset with nutrition, rest, and guided recovery support.

Priya Desai’s oncology journey was intense—cycles of chemotherapy, scans, and long weeks away from home. When active treatment ended, she expected relief. Instead she felt drained and unsure how to start again.

Her recovery program focused on three pillars: restorative nutrition, graded physical activity, and mental health check-ins. A dietitian helped manage taste changes and rebuild muscle.

Short daily walks became longer ones. Gentle yoga replaced bed rest. Sleep improved once night-time nausea subsided and a consistent evening routine returned.

Six months later, Priya completed her first charity walk. Scans remained clear, and she describes recovery as learning to listen to her body without fear.

She encourages fellow survivors to celebrate small wins—finishing a meal, sleeping through the night, or walking around the block—because healing compounds over time.
